We met on December 6, 2011 to discuss maintaining a gluten-free diet around the holidays and enjoyed some favorite holiday treats. In addition, Wildtree Independent Representative Marcy Berlyn provided an overview of the all-natural food company and their products including a new line of gluten-free bakery items that are made with ancient grains. In September 2011, our meeting featured guest speaker Megan Curtes, Owner of the Be Well Bakeshop in Wausau. She discussed her handcrafted, gluten-free baked goods made with healthful ingredients. She uses no preservatives and when possible Wisconsin grown and organic ingredients. In August 2011, we met at Cafe Espresso, 1009 First Street, Stevens Point (next to Emy J's). Their menu features local ingredients and several items that can be made gluten free. In March 2011, we met at the Nutrition Discount Center (NDC), 5475 Hwy 10 E, Stevens Point (in the Staples complex). NDC features gluten-free products, organic produce, green cleaning and beauty products, as well as a wide selection of vitamins and supplements. Many thanks to store owner John Krasselt for the wonderful variety of samples and sharing information about probiotics.
In January 2011, we had a gluten free dinner at Michele’s Restaurant, 513 Division Street, Stevens Point. Michele's chefs can prepare a several of their menu options gluten free including steak, chicken, and seafood.
